Sally Pelto-Wheeler became a project manager at the Eppley Institute in January 2014. Her previous work primarily focused on cultivating relationships across community and academic partnerships. While in the IU School of Public Health Dean’s Office, she worked to strengthen community-based research and service collaborations, assisted with accreditation activities, and established the School’s Community Advisory Board.
With a master’s degree in Public Health, Sally has experience with multidisciplinary work and an understanding of the importance of prevention in health and wellbeing. She is especially passionate about the impact of parks, recreation, and greenspace on community health. Sally has worked with city and county officials to conduct agency strategic plans and department master plans. She also works on several online education courses with National Park Service partners. She serves as the program coordinator for the national Playground Maintenance Technician training program.
