The National Park Service (NPS) Training and Development division develops and delivers training curriculum and experiences for all career fields across the Park Service. The Eppley Institute was asked to create a unique partnership of visiting lecturers who could contribute academic and organizational expertise for training in the NPS.
Eppley Institute developed an innovative program that recruits experienced and highly skilled instructors, trainers, and instructional designers to work for the partnership. In doing so, the Eppley Institute:
- Determined needs to configure appropriate NPS requirements with trainer qualifications
- Strategically selected and placed visiting lecturer faculty in NPS training centers across the United States, and
- Ensured the results of faculty placements offered positive contributions to various programs.
The NPS improved training to focus on more rigorous, academic content and experiences for thousands of NPS employees each year. NPS course participants interact regularly with Indiana University faculty and earn Indiana University Continuing Education Units (CEUs) with their coursework.
