Indiana Heritage Corps Recruiting for the Fall

September 18, 2012

The Indiana Heritage Corps program is currently accepting applications for their 2012 Fall (September-December) sessions at Pokagon State Park/Trine State Recreation Area, Fort Harrison, O'Bannon Woods, and Brown County State Parks.  If you know a college student that needs internship credit, or a recent grad that likes to volunteer, loves the outdoors, and/or wants to participate in a unique trail rehab opportunity, they should consider this opportunity.

During the inaugural session over the last eight months, Indiana Heritage Corps team members have worked to improve over forty miles of trails at four Indiana State Parks. This unique program, part of the federally funded AmeriCorps program, provides volunteers with housing, a small monthly stipend, uniforms, supplies, and a complimentary State Park Pass in addition to an education award in exchange for 450 hours of trail maintenance and rehabilitation volunteering.

If you are interested, visit the Indiana Heritage Corps website or contact indianaheritagecorps@dnr.in.gov for more information.  Additional information and photos of the Indiana Heritage Corps hard work can be found on their Facebook page.
